How it works

STATTAUTO Munich was founded in April 1992. Since then over 17.000 participants have been using the CarSharing system at STATTAUTO. Approximately 95% of them are living in the Munich area. The satisfaction of our participants is high, since their hands-on experience coincides with their expectations.

STATTAUTO pursues the goal of constantly expanding the station network, further developing the system and maintaining a high quality of service in the interest of its participants.

Suitable car spaces are hard to come by. Please help us with the development of new stations and contact us at info [at] stattauto-muenchen [dot] de, if you have a tip.

We reward a successful placement with a credit for your trips!

If you’d like to become a STATTAUTO member, the first steps are signing the contract and paying the registration fee and deposit. When you sign the contract, you will be given an introduction and:

• the manual
• a personal member identification number – essential for booking and billing
• the telephone numbers of the booking and assistance centers (24 hour service)
• an identification card with a corresponding PIN for accessing the electronic key safes and the vehicles’ onboard computers, as well as for booking cartime on the internet

The contract is similar to an extended rental contract, and eliminates the need for individual contracts at each booking.

You will be able to book cars after signing the contract and the driver’s license check. After that, you can book minutes or months in advance.

To be able to use the car sharing system of STATTAUTO München you first have to sign a contract.

For examination of your divers license and ID you have to personally visit our central office from Monday to Friday between 9 am and 4:30 pm.

For signing a contract it’s required to pay a deposit and registration fee. Furthermore you are agreeing to pay a monthly fee that is invoiced once a year.

For companies, associations or other organizations we offer special conditions. After concluding your contract you’ll receive a customer card which gives you usage authorization.

You are able to form a participant community with other people. A joint invoice is send to the “main participant”.

Please also use the MVV/MVG “Timetable information – EFA (mobile version) )” The destination for our office (Aidenbachstraße 36) has already been put in for you. The only thing left to do is putting in your starting address to get detailed directions. Lastly, when you click on the map or station symbol, you’ll see the general maps.

The safety package reduces the deductible for self-imposed accidents from 1000,– € to 300,– €.

It remains valid for one year after signing and counts towards one damage case per year. It will be extended automatically for another year if not cancelled at least four weeks before it expires.

The safety package costs 72,– € per year for the first person and 36,– € per year for any additional person. The amounts are paid immediately and will be calculated with your next bill. The safety package is subject to receipt of payment of STATTAUTO München.

The safety package is automatically canceled upon canceling your participant contract. There is no entitlement to any refunds.
You will receive a notification via mail after contract formation. STATTAUTO München is eligible to decline the contract closing of a safety package.

As STATTAUTO München participant you have a variety of vehicles to choose from:

• midsize car (Mittelklasse):
  • station wagon: Renault Megane, Toyota Auris TS (also Hybrid), Opel Astra, Ford Focus
  • high-roof station wagon: Renault Kangoo, Fiat Doblo, Nissan eNV 200 (Elektro)
  • sedan: Toyota Auris Hybrid, Nissan Leaf (Elektro)
• compact van: Toyota Verso
• passenger van (Kleinbusse): Renault Trafic Bus, Ford Transit Bus
• cargo van (Kleintransporter): Renault Trafic, Ford Transit

Small cars and medium-sized hybrid cars may have automatic transmissions.

100% of initial booking requests can be fulfilled with our fleet. STATTAUTO varies the fleet continuously to meet changing needs: more vehicles are required in summer and for holidays than in winter.

The vehicles are parked at more than 135 different stations in Munich and surrounding areas. You can use vehicles from any of these. A few of the stations have only one vehicle each for now – the majority of the stations have between two and five vehicles available – some have even more than ten.

All stations are accessible around the clock.

We adjust our station network according to our always growing participant numbers, which is why we constantly establish new stations. But it can also happen that known stations disappear, which can have a lot of different reasons.

Suitable car spaces are hard to come by. Please help us with opening up new stations by writing us at info [at] stattauto-muenchen [dot] de in case you know of any suitable places.

A successful placement is rewarded with a credit to your account!

Reservations can be made via phone 24/7. The booking agents at our central office or at our partner, cantamen in Hannover, take care of all bookings, cancellations, and extensions.

You can book spontaneously or months ahead of time. The smallest time unit is one hour. When you book via phone please state:

• your member number and name
• date and time you would like to start and end your trip
• your preferred station and the preferred size/class of vehicle needed

If the vehicle you want is reserved by another member, the booking agent will give you other options to meet your needs.

Alternatively, you can book via the internet, or via our iOS– and Android-Apps.

You can find information about our booking system in the short manual.

At the station you’ll receive the car keys with your customer card and PIN code. Details on picking up and returning the vehicle are available inside the manual.

Check the vehicle for any visible damage. New damage must be reported to STATTAUTO München at the beginning of your trip.

If a booked vehicle is not where it should be, please be patient. The driver may merely be delayed by traffic. Call the booking service if it is more than ten minutes late. Central booking may have more information as to the whereabouts of the vehicle. If it is not possible to wait for the originally booked vehicle, you can book another for the same price or you may cancel with no cost to you. In any case you will receive a financial compensation (see the Price List) which can of course be used for a taxi ride.

Gasoline / petrol is included in the kilometer price. Because every vehicle has a refueling card, no cash is needed for refueling. The card is accepted at all gas stations with a „UTA“-sign in Germany and in other European countries. The vehicles should always be returned with at least a half full tank.

In some cases accidents must be reported to the police (see the car’s manual). Accidents must be immediately reported to STATTAUTO via the central booking number, who will take care of everything to do with the insurance. All vehicles are fully insured automatically with the costs included in the rental price.

The amount of your deductible (should you cause an accident) is also on the price list.

Should you cancel your booking after it has started, you’ll have to pay the full time price up to the point of announcing the cancelation. A cancellation fee has to be paid for the rest of the booking. Should the time price not change due to the shortening, there won’t be any fee. In case of the booking being postponed during the cancelation period you’ll also be charged with a cancellation fee according to our pricelist. Returning the vehicle/keys alone doesn’t count as a shortening; you have to either call the booking center or shorten the booking yourself via our website or the app.

The cancellation fee is omitted

• with bookings periods up to 72 hours (3 days) if the cancellation happened at least 24h before the beginning of the booking period.
• with longer bookings if the cancellation happened at least 7 days before the beginning of the booking period.
• with cancellations that happened within a time period of 30 minutes after the booking was made, still before the booking period.

When you have returned, the vehicle must be driven to the station where it was picked up. While filling out the trip report remember to include

• your name and the vehicle identification number
• date and time of start and finish with final kilometer standing
• all additional information that will be needed to calculate the final bill (expenses for fuel, cleaning costs etc.)
• if necessary notes and comments on any new damage to the vehicle

Please place the driving report and if applicable, original receipts for expenses in the trip report box. All receipts and bills must have your name and the vehicle’s name (from its keychain) written on them. The bill is based on this trip report. Finally, lock the vehicle in the appropriate manner and return the key to the safe or the board computer for the next user.

Please be sure the vehicles are clean before returning them, especially on the inside. You too appreciate a clean car!

If you need to have the inside or the outside of a vehicle cleaned, STATTAUTO will credit your account (see price list).

STATTAUTO members can also use vehicles belonging to cooperating car sharing programs in other cities in Germany.

Booking is done via phone or mail with STATTAUTO München a few days before you need the vehicle; billing of your trip will be done via your invoice.

We offer a simplified cooperative use directly via our booking website and soon also via the STATTAUTO München app for iOS and Android devices.

In Mai 2016 we started a stadtmobil group , which has been joined by other car sharing organisations. Detailed information and an overview can be found here.

STATTAUTO München CarSharing is a member of the Bundesverband CarSharting (BCS) 

Every four weeks you’ll receive a detailed bill for your trips and other expenses you may incur via e-mail as a PDF or, if desired, via letter post.

The monthly fees are billed in one lump sum at the beginning of the year.

Members of STATTAUTO München generally pay with SEPA automatic debit.
